Who we are
The Whimsy House Museum stands as a testament to the remarkable contributions African Americans have made to America's rich cultural and historical tapestry. This purpose statement delves into the significance of this museum, highlighting its vast collection of black Americana, toys, figurines, postcards and more, that showcase the immense impact of black culture on various aspects of society. From financial achievements to groundbreaking inventions, our museum sheds light on the remarkable achievements of African Americans throughout history. We sell at collectible shows and flea markets to cover the current rent, expenses, and upkeep of the Whimsy House. But we have ambitious plans! We want to expand Whimsy House’s hours and services. We want to bring in famous authors and historians to give readings. We want more robust monthly and quarterly events. Museums are constantly changing with new exhibits. We want to host student groups and provide field trips for students studying Black history. Most of all, we want the Whimsy House non-profit to own a permanent building in South Georgia, one that will live on after our personal journey is done, one that can host the gathered lifetimes of African American history and Americana for decades to come.Museum tours by appointment only. Free Entry.
